Tyler Spezia called up, 2 players sent to Walleye

The Toledo Walleye’s No. 2 scorer has been called up to the American Hockey League.

Tyler Spezia, who has nine goals and 10 assists in 18 games this season, was called up by Grand Rapids on Monday. The Bowling Green State University product signed with the Griffins in July after playing in eight games with Grand Rapids on a professional tryout in 2018-19.

Spezia, a forward, also played for the Walleye last season, recording 39 points as the team’s top-scoring rookie.

Grand Rapids sent forward Troy Loggins back to Toledo. Loggins had two assists with the Griffins after picking up seven points in 11 games for the Walleye earlier this season.

Also Monday, the Detroit Red Wings reassigned goaltender Filip Larsson from Grand Rapids to Toledo. The rookie went 2-5-0 with a 4.01 goals-against average for the Griffins.

The Walleye host Adirondack at 10:35 a.m. on Wednesday, with home games at 7:15 p.m. Friday against Brampton and 7:15 p.m. Saturday against Cincinnati.
