The Start girls basketball team broke open a close game in the third quarter, outscoring Rogers 18-7 to win its City League opener on its home floor.

Keyaira Burroughs had 17 points, including five 3-pointers, Alasia Easley scored 15, and Sincere Nicholson had 12 points to lead Start (3-0, 1-0 City).

Logan Love had 21 points and Winter Richburg scored 11 to lead Rogers (1-1, 0-1).

BOWSHER 61, SCOTT 38

Alysia Lawson led all scorers with 22 points as Bowsher (3-0, 1-0) claimed victory on the road. Jada Dames scored 13 points and Aiyanna String added 11 points.

Aaliyah Armstrong and Maquaia Hudgins each scored 12 points for Scott (1-1, 0-1).

WOODWARD 36, WAITE 24

The Polar Bears (1-1 City, 1-0) grabbed a road win, with Chaylin Parker scoring 11 points.

Brynne Teel led Waite (0-4, 0-1) with 15 points and 20 rebounds.

NOTRE DAME 63, ST. URSULA 38

Olivia Sims scored 19 points as Notre Dame won its Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener at home.

Grace VanSlooten scored 17 points and Ray Armstrong added 11 for the Eagles (1-1, 1-0 TRAC). Gabby Whitzel scored 11 points for St. Ursula (1-2, 0-1).

WHITMER 45, FREMONT ROSS 14

FREMONT — Whitmer (2-0, 1-0) won its TRAC opener, with Rhegyn Blood scoring 14 points.

The Little Giants fell to 1-2, 0-1.

LIMA SENIOR 57, CLAY 53

Lima Senior topped Clay as Nakiya Sigman scored 15, Samya Bullock 14 and Ryann Miller 11 for the Spartans.

Alivia Rew had 18, Kennedy Slovak 13, and Olivia Henneman-Dalappe 11 for Clay.

SWANTON 76, CARDINAL STRITCH 22

Swanton’s Frankie Nelson scored 16 points in the Bulldogs’ nonleague victory.

Hope Yost had eight for Cardinal Stritch.

WOODMORE 62, NORTHWOOD 26

Woodmore (3-0) rolled at Northwood, with Brooke Allen scoring 16 points. Randi Wilson paced Northwood with eight points.

ELMWOOD 56, VAN BUREN 32

BLOOMDALE — Brooklyn Thrash made 14 of 16 free throws en route to a 26-point night as Elmwood (2-1) claimed a nonleague victory.

HILLTOP 65, TINORA 62

Alex Horton had 18, points, Leanna Baker scored 16, and Kodi Brenner had 11 points to lift the Cadets to victory over Tinora.

EVERGREEN 44, OTTAWA HILLS 43

METAMORA — Mason Loeffler (14 points) hit two free throws with less than a second left to give the Vikings a season-opening victory.

Nate Brighton had 17 points and 17 rebounds. John Kight scored 14 for Ottawa Hills.
