To the editor: We need more ambitious women
Men will only reward ambition if it isn’t perceived as a threat.

“I’m not good enough. I’m not smart enough. I’m not old enough. I’m too old. I’m not strong enough. I can’t do this. What if I fail?”
This is what women hear from the voices in their heads before they step outside their comfort zones. How do women overcome these fears and doubts? Ambition.
Ambition helps women ignore these voices and achieve our goals and dreams. Ambition helps us imagine what could happen if we succeed, while the rest of the world seems focused on what will happen if we fail. Ambitious men are celebrated while ambitious women get punished.
On Aug 2, a Blade editorial “Careful, Joe” slammed ambitious women, suggesting Senator Kamala Harris was too ambitious to be Joe Biden’s vice presidential pick.
We tell little girls they can be whatever they want when they grow up, but that’s a lie. Girls still can’t be whatever they want. Thanks to sexist views like those held by this paper’s editorial board, little girls who are watching the news today are being reminded that they still have to do whatever men want them to do if they want to succeed in life.
Men will only reward ambition if it isn’t perceived as a threat.

We are looking at the most important election of all time. I believe the choice is very clear.
On one side, we have the Democrats, pandering to every ethnic group to gain votes, siding with lawlessness and rioters, and embracing communism. If Joe Biden could sell ice cream for a vote, he would. But you might not get the correct change.
On the other hand we have the Republicans, advocating business success, jobs, work ethic, personal freedom, family, and law and order. Where is the problem here? The choice is clear.
Toledoans should thank Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, the Toledo Police Department, and the Toledo citizens for not turning our city into a burned down, painted-up hulk.
What is heard the most around the water cooler is: President Trump’s a jerk, President Trump plays too much golf, President Trump’s in bed with the Russians.
It’s OK to not like Mr. Trump. He is abrasive and sometimes silly. But the policies the Democrats offer will not take us anywhere but down.
2nd amendment woes
In the Thursday’s Blade, there was an article about the New York attorney general suing the National Rifle Association and its leaders.
In the claim, the attorney general was blaming the leaders of the NRA of a long list of what she claimed were offenses that looked familiar.
As a matter of fact, they looked just like the things that senators and congressmen have been doing for years, at both the local level and at the national level.
But suddenly when the NRA does this, it’s a crime.
As the attorney general states, the NRA should be shut down and put out of business.
If this should happen to go where she wants it to, who will be there to defend our Second Amendment rights?
