The Lucas County Board of Elections is hosting a job fair Aug. 20 and 21 to recruit election workers

The board is looking for poll workers to work on Election Day, Nov. 3, as well as seasonal workers to perform clerical and data-entry work

The job fair will be held at the Early Vote Center, 1301 Monroe St., with two-hour recruiting sessions scheduled to start at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. on Aug. 20 and one session Aug. 21 starting at 11 a.m.

The commitment for Precinct Elections Officials includes mandatory training classes, the Monday evening setup before the election and the work preformed on Election Day -- typically starting at 5:30 a.m. and concluding at 8:30 p.m.

The pay is a minimum of $140 for training and completion of Election Day duties.

Contact Robert Royster at 419-213-2043, RJRoyster@lucascountyoh.gov, or Veronica Hill at 419-213-2034, Vrhill@lucascountyoh.gov, to work as a precinct official.

The hours for other Election Day workers depend on job specifications. Hours worked will be between 2 and 15 hours dependent upon job assignment. Election Day workers are paid between $10.50 and $15 per hour. Positions available are rovers, riders, hospital patient ballot delivery, substation worker, and Election Night tabulation workers. Some jobs require mandatory training at $10 to $15 per class.

The elections board is also hiring seasonal workers to perform clerical work in the office, manual labor in the warehouse, or both. Work may be scheduled anywhere from 30 to 40 hours per week, during election "season" and or otherwise as needed.
