Here is a look at Toledo’s key MAC West matchup with Ball State:

Who: Toledo (4-2, 1-1 MAC) at Ball State (3-3, 2-0)

When: Saturday, 2 p.m. ET

TV: ESPN+

Radio: 1370 AM

Line: Toledo by 1 1/2

Over/under: 59 1/2

Series: Toledo leads 24-19-1

Key matchup

Toledo defense against Ball State quarterback Drew Plitt. Plitt leads the MAC with 277 passing yards per game and has 13 passing touchdowns. He has been efficient, completing 65.8 percent of his passes. Toledo's secondary will be tested by Plitt and the Ball State passing game. Toledo's defense is last in the conference with 281.8 passing yards allowed per game. How Toledo defends Plitt will be a key factor in determining who wins the big MAC West matchup.

Players to watch

Ball State: RB Caleb Huntley. Huntley is coming off a 152-yard rushing performance in the Cardinals 29-23 win at Eastern Michigan. He has been consistent all season and his 98.7 rushing yards per game is fifth in the MAC. Huntley provides the balance to Plitt's passing. Toledo, which is fourth in the MAC in rush defense at 176.0 yards per game, will look to make Ball State one-dimensional by slowing down Huntley and the Cardinals' run game.

Toledo: RB Bryant Koback. Koback leads the MAC in rushing at 114.7 yards per game, but is coming off a game of just 60 rushing yards in the Rockets' loss to Bowling Green. When Toledo's offense is at its best, the run game is rolling along and is in rhythm. Koback will look to bounce back individually as will the Toledo run game collectively. Which team controls the game on the ground will be a big factor in the game on Saturday.
