Michigan linebacker Josh Uche announced on Wednesday that he would declare for the NFL draft after this season, saying he still plans to play in Michigan’s upcoming bowl game.

Uche had one year of eligibility remaining, according to a statement he posted on Twitter. He played in only four games his freshman year. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound linebacker has led Michigan In sacks in each of the past two seasons, with 8½ this year and 7 in 2018.

During Uche’s four years at Michigan, he compiled 55 tackles, 20½ of which were for a loss, and 16½ sacks.

“My time here has been the best four years of my life,” Uche wrote on Twitter. "I have made memories and friendships that will last forever, and learned more than I could have ever imagined. I am ready for the next challenge and a new chapter in football and in life.

“Me and my family have made the decision to forego my final season of eligibility and enter my name in the 2020 NFL Draft. I am still working hard with my teammates to win our 10th game of the season in the Bowl Game, and I am excited to represent Michigan on the field one last time.”

On the move: In more Michigan defensive news, linebacker Jordan Anthony has entered the transfer portal, becoming the third University of Michigan player to do so this season.

A source confirmed to The Blade that Anthony’s name was in the transfer portal. The Detroit Free Press first reported the news.

The redshirt sophomore linebacker appeared in nine games for Michigan this season, registering 11 tackles and one quarterback hurry. He also appeared in seven games during the 2018 season.

Anthony most recently played against Maryland, and is a former four-star recruit. He attended IMG Academy in Florida, and was rated as the No. 8 outside linebacker in the nation and the No. 19 recruit in the state of Florida in the class of 2017.

The other two Michigan players to enter the transfer portal this season were redshirt freshman tight end Mustapha Muhammad and junior safety J’Marick Woods.
