15 local football teams would qualify for playoffs if season ended today

Four each from Three Rivers Athletic Conference, Northwest Ohio Athletic Conference would be in postseason.

The fourth list of Ohio High School Athletic Association weekly football computer ratings were released Tuesday, and 15 Toledo area schools would be in the playoffs if the season ended today.

The weekly computer ratings are released every Tuesday beginning in the fifth week of the season, leading up to the final report on Nov. 3, when 224 out of the state's 712 schools will qualify for the postseason.

The top eight in each region of the seven divisions will earn playoff berths. Four schools from the Three Rivers Athletic Conference and four from the Northwest Ohio Athletic Conference would be in, while two from the Northern Lakes League would qualify.

Four local Division II teams would be in the postseason based on the current rankings. Central Catholic (7-0) remains No. 1 in Region 7 after a solid 42-14 win over Division I Whitmer last Friday.

Anthony Wayne (7-0), which has posted four straight shutouts, remains locked in at No. 2.

St. Francis de Sales (5-2) fell from No. 3 to No. 4 after its 24-10 loss to rival St. John's Jesuit (4-3). The Titans moved into playoff contention with the big win over their rivals, moving up from No. 9 to No. 5 in Region 7.

The largest 72 schools are in Division I, while the remaining schools are divided equally in Divisions II through VII with approximately 108 schools in each division.

In Division I, Whitmer (6-1) fell to No. 2 in Region 2 after its Three Rivers Athletic Conference loss to Central.

Also in D-I, Perrysburg (5-2) moved up a spot to No. 7 after a 37-21 win over Northview.

Meanwhile, Findlay (3-4) pulled back into playoff contention after its 28-21 win over Clay. The Trojans now occupy the final spot at No. 8.

In Division IV, Wauseon (6-1) remains at No. 2 in Region 14 after a 35-6 win over Evergreen..

In Region 18 of Division V, Eastwood (7-0) and Oak Harbor (7-0) have flipped-flopped spots. The Eagles fell from No. 2 to No. 3, while the Rockets moved up from No. 3 to No. 2. Eastwood beat rival Genoa (2-5) on the road 41-10, and Oak Harbor defeated Huron (5-2) on the road 42-10.

Liberty-Benton (6-1) remains in seventh in D-V. Northwood (7-0) remained out of the top eight despite still being undefeated. The Rangers are No. 10.

In Division VI, Liberty Center (7-0) has climbed to No. 1 after a 54-31 win at Swanton. Archbold (6-1) is No. 5, and Gibsonburg (7-0) remains at No. 10 in Region 23.

In Region 26 of Division VII, Patrick Henry (6-1) is No. 3, and McComb (7-0) is fourth. The Patriots play at Wauseon on Friday.
