Seneca County man killed in two-vehicle crash

SUV collided with pickup truck near County Road 24 and Reed Township Road 183.

REPUBLIC, Ohio — A Seneca County man was killed Wednesday when his sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck collided at County Road 24 and Reed Township Road 183, said troopers with the Norwalk post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.. 

Matthew Potts, 35, of Republic was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Troopers said Mr. Potts was eastbound on County Road 24 about 5:35 p.m. when his SUV was struck by the pickup driven by Calvin Robinson, 74, of Republic, which was southbound on Township Road 183.

Mr. Robinson failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Mr. Potts’ vehicle on the left side, causing it to overturn. 

Mr. Potts did not wear a seat belt and was partially ejected. Mr. Robinson wore a seat belt and was not injured.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash, which occurred about 60 miles southeast of Toledo.
